ENGLISH  AND DRAMA SUMMER CAMP – VARNA, BULGARIA  –

English teachers required for dates: 7 July – 3 August  2019

Salary:  1200 euro per month + accommodation and full board + weekly excursions

ELACP are looking for reliable, enthusiastic, friendly and creative English language teachers for our summer camp.   There are places available in our Bulgarian camp.  The camp is in Kranevo, Varna, just a few minutes’ walk from a lovely sandy beach.    The location is also convenient for exploring some of the vast nature reserves and natural wonders, traditional villages and iconic monuments of the region.

This assignment is ideal as a working holiday for experienced teachers.  It is a great opportunity for people who are interested in working with children for a future career.  It might also be perfect for newly qualified language teachers for gap experience. All teaching materials are provided and induction is given at the Centre. Your task will be to teach English to international students, to develop their reading, writing, understanding and speaking skills. The students are aged between 7 and 17, from beginner to advanced level.  There is also a small adult class for group leaders, relatives and parents.

A big part of the programme is the drama workshop where the students learn and practise an English classic and put on a performance at the end of each session. That includes costumes, singing and dancing.  This is really great fun, and both children and parents look forward to the final performance.  Teachers will be required to rehearse their classes for the performance, which will involve helping them to learn their script and words to some popular songs.   All of this is in an informal setting.

A typical day consists of English lessons and drama workshop in the morning and early afternoon, then leisure activities and excursions in the afternoon, and evening entertainment.

Accommodation and meals are provided free of charge. All staff will stay in comfortable hotel accommodation, in a single, twin room or shared apartment. Breakfast, lunch, dinner and evening snacks are provided at the hotel, or packed lunch on days out. Excursions are also free of charge.

Applicants must be entirely fluent in spoken and written English. Teaching experience and/or an TEFL qualification will be a distinct advantage.  He/she should have good general knowledge about life in an English-speaking country and be familiar with most aspects of modern English culture and current affairs. The person should appreciate being around students of various ages. He/she should be tolerant, approachable and sociable, and co-operative.
